Firefighters hold the line at Granite

By on July 21, 2016

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – A heroic effort has thus far kept flames from the Cliff Creek Fire from getting into Granite Creek. The fire has now grown to 10,118 acres and is moving primarily up the Shoal Creek and Dell Creek drainages into Deer Ridge.

Homeowners in Bondurant can return to their homes. Their evacuation has been lifted. Highway 189/191 will remain closed to through-traffic, however.

Incident Commander Tony DeMasters estimates containment now at about 5 percent. July 31 is still the target date to have the fire contained.

Sixteen crews and total of 596 firefighters are now assigned to Cliff Creek along with 7 helicopters and 29 engines.

Forest officials have raised the fire danger in Bridger-Teton from “High” to “Very High.”
