JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Mayor Sara Flitner will have at least one challenger. Former town councilor Mark Obringer announced today he will seek to become Jackson’s next mayor this fall.

“If elected Mayor, I will frame and guide the conversation in a fair and inclusive way. We have a huge pool of talented people in Jackson Hole and it’s important that we reach out and utilize this resource,” Obringer said in a prepared statement. “I’ve been listening to the public dialog and I believe we need to come up with solutions unique to our valley instead of editing outside reports and recycling old ideas.”

Obringer served 16 years on the town council from 1996 to 2012. He was named vice mayor by then-mayor Mark Barron during his last term. Since 2004, Obringer has also served as president of Imagine Jackson, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing career opportunities for tech industry candidates. Obringer was defeated in the 2012 primaries.
