Refuge winter activities open

Jackson Hole, Wyo.-The National Elk Refuge begins its winter activities this week, including sleigh rides, a free naturalist series and a free wildlife caravan, according to an NER announcement.
Sleigh rides take place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily, including weekends and holidays, except for Christmas Day. Tickets are $18, $14 for children, and reservations are not required. However, folks seeking group rates and private sleighs may want to call ahead.
The “Feature Creature Naturalist Series” includes free 15-minute programs on animals found on the refuge, 11 a.m., daily or upon request, at the visitor center.
Refuge naturalists also offer a free wildlife caravan tour of the refuge road, 1:30 p.m., Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Reservations are required for the caravan.
