Earthquake rattles Palisades, Jackson Hole

Jackson Hole, Wyoming - (9:45 p.m. 1/15/098, updated 10:24 a.m. 1/16/09)An earthquake was reported at 9:15 p.m. this evening near the Idaho-Wyoming border in Lincoln County, Wyoming.
The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting a 3.7 magnitude earthquake near Palisades reservoir near Alpine, Wyoming. On the USGS Web site it l

ocates the epicenter of the quake eight miles north of Alpine and eight miles south of Hoback Junction.
Jackson Hole resident, Lawrence Bennett felt the quake. "My rickety kitchen table is like a built-in Richter scale," said Bennett. "It felt just like when they bomb Snow King for avalanches."
Jeana Haarman of Alpine, Wyo., felt her a-frame house shake while she stood in her kitchen with family. "It felt like the earth was shifting under our feet," she said. "At first I thought it was my washing machine off balance." Though Haarman's home was close to the epicenter, she reported no damage to her property.
Localnews8 Idaho television viewers reported feeling the small earthquake as far as Pocatello, Idaho. As of the time of reporting, 162 people have indicated on the U.S.G.S website that they had felt the quake. See the link below to add your comments.

This area has a long history of seismic activity as several fault lines run just south of the Wyoming side of the Palisades Recreation area.
There are no reports of damage.
