Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters National Paint-Out & Exhibition – “Plein Air for the Park” @ Craig Thomas Discovery & Visitors Center
Jul 15 @ 2:00 pm – Jul 21 @ 5:00 pm

JH art blog banner ad 2013 v1.3 FINALThe Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters’ (RMPAP) 12th Annual National Paint-Out & Exhibition, “Plein Air for the Park,” culminates in a spectacular Show & Sale at the Craig Thomas Discovery & Visitors Center, Grand Teton National Park.  July 15-21st, 2013, visitors to the exhibition will see countless freshly created plein air works painted by nationally renowned artists from around the country.  The Center’s 1200 sq. ft. gallery space overlooking the Teton Range currently houses the Park’s permanent art collection.

Previews begin July 15th; visitors may begin viewing paintings that day, and the full show opens, with a Grand Reception, on Thursday, July 18th, 7:00 pm. Works remain up and for sale through July 21st.

The show will also include a memorial exhibition of field works by the late plein air painter Greg McHuron. McHuron was a member of RMPAP from its inception, mentoring many of its members throughout the years. Generous and dedicated, he was instrumental in bringing RMPAP’s National Show to Grand Teton National Park.

All sales benefit Grand Teton National Park through the Grand Teton Association, which began collecting artwork on behalf of the Park over 50 years ago. The collection is now a highly valuable part of the Park’s legacy. RMPAP’s mission is to foster public awareness and enthusiasm for plein air painting within the Rocky Mountain region; and to build comaraderie, friendship and professional development among its member artists.
