Is Ebola here?

ebolaPatient in Village rushed to St. John’s with Ebola-like symptoms

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Planet Jackson Hole has confirmed a patient with flulike symptoms was transported from Teton Village to St. John’s Medical Center today. Health officials would not confirm the valley’s first case of Ebola but took every precaution warranted under guidelines for infectious disease control.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. this morning county dispatch received a call that an unidentified female was in need of medical attention at a lodging property in Teton Village. After interviewing the patient and the patient’s party, first responders had reason to believe the group had a travel history of concern, and that they may be dealing with a highly infectious disease consistent with Ebola. Further examination at St. John’s led healthcare officials to determine the patient’s travel history did not include Ebola hotspots and the patient is being treated for influenza.

“This was a well-coordinated response and exactly what was warranted in this particular situation,” was all St. John’s CEO Lou Hochheiser would say at this time.

Planet JH will stay with this story as it develops.

Now that you have information in your article that declares it is being considered “influenza” and not an Ebola chance maybe you should change the title of the article instead of continuing this shockingly irresponsible and alarmist journalism.

Get the word Ebola out of the title and begin with the simple facts and see what they add up to instead of leading with the scary presumptions. This sort of writing is nothing more than dangerous gossip that can cause harmful repercussions. Be more careful, PlanetJH.

SERIOUSLY. CHANGE THE HEADLINE. I JUST GOT A CALL FROMA FREAKED OUT WIFE AND FAMILY MEMBER. AS SOON AS ONE SEMILITERATE RETARD READS THE HEADLINE, THEY PHONE A FRIEND, WHO TEXTS A FREIND, WHO TWEETS 800 FOLLOWERS THAT THERE’S EBOLA IN JACKSON. CHANGE THE STUPID HEADLINE PLEASE.

OR DOES FOX NEWS OWN PLANETJH???

Hey, my allergies are acting up, better write an article on how I have Bubonic Plague symptoms. That will be exactly what we need to bring in tourists this winter! Thanks for the sensationalism PlanetJH

New headline: Is the Planet the shittiest paper in history?

or maybe: Is 3rd-tier paper resorting to Sensationalism to claw some semblance of relevancy?

A question mark in a headline is bush league NY Post-ish as it gets. But you’re getting impressions! [slow clap]

The national media is bad enough now we have terrible reporting close to home. This headline is ridiculous and this article should be taken down. Way to bring panic and fear; totally irresponsible and misleading reporting. Disappointing.

Totally irresponsible journalism. Fear mongering pure and simple. A change in headline and in graphic would have been smart before you published but maybe that’s expecting too much. Let’s just jump on the hysteria bandwagon, Planet.

    Hey Jake Nichols,

Its actually not funny at all. Everyone writing here is correct. You can still change the headline and photo or remove the article entirely if you can’t. Since now the text of your article says the opposite of the headline anyhow. This is still live and being discovered. What’s with you guys?

Attention seeking pablem like this is bound to abed the already growing hysteria concerning Ebola. Your article is not the effort of diligent journalism, nor is it ethical. Jacob, your job is not to manufacture news as soon as it crosses your wire, your job is to put that information in a much broader context. You ought to be the champion of fact, and the enemy of nonsense, hyperbole and innuendo. Anything else, is a waste of time.

What on God’s green earth does this have to do with Fox News? Really Sam…are you that desperate to make this bad journalism a right/left political issue?

What’s more alarming, the response or the headline?

It’s a headline. It’s supposed to attract attention. It asked the very question that local authorities were asking. Yeah, they could have said, “Ebola not here” or whatever. The sad fact is that idiots scream bloody murder about headlines while real issues hardly get such an emotional response.

The story – what you’re supposed to read – highlighted that fact that we live in a tourist community with people arriving from all over the World. Additionally, those with money travel the World and come back home to Jackson. The idea that Ebola could come to Jackson isn’t far fetched and the reaction by local authorities was an interesting read in the JHWeekly and the JHN&G.

Fox news often reports contrived stories in a sensationalized fashion. What’s that got to do with politics?

Sensationalism misappropriated. This is too serious an issue to be playing games with in this manner.

    Really?

What horrible things have happened because of this headline?

Go read the New York Post for crazy headlines.

JHWeekly ISN’T the New York Times and none expects it to be except a few readers who have nothing better to do than attack it over a harmless headline. It’s the JHWeekly! Expect LESS.

STAY OFF THE INTERNET if this stuff bothers you. SERIOUSLY. You can’t handle it.

Yes, a few idiots will look at the headline and think the world is coming to an end but, God bless them because he didn’t give a brain to everybody.
