Local gymnasts storm podium at State

The Axis gymnastics team put on an impressive showing last weekend in Rock Springs for the State Championships. The Level 4 and Level 7 teams both finished in second place overall while individual titles were earned in vault, uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise and all-around honors.

Coach Jeff Lutz said, “I’m truly impressed by how much each of our girls has improved this season.”Gabriela Muschaweck snared the top spot on the podium in Level 7 (12-year-olds and up) for vault, uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercises and all-round champion. Sierra Coleman dominated the Level 7 (7-11 year olds) field as well, scoring top honors in vault, uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercises and she also took home the all-around trophy.

Tori Wolf (Level 6; 12-14 year olds), Rory Sullivan (Level 5; 10-11 year olds), Maya Ramkowsky (Level 5; 7-9 year olds), and Nicole Lohn (Level 4; 14-year-olds and up) were all extremely competitive. Youngsters Lucy Turner, Sydney Crothers, and Jessica Johnson showed promise in the Level 4 (6-8 year olds) class.

    Thanks for running the story about Axis gymnast. They all have worked so hard this year. It’s nice to get support from the papers.
